Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you have had an enjoyable break. I am delighted and honoured to write my first letter to you as the new Headteacher of The Edith Borthwick School. All of the learners and staff have made me feel very welcome and I feel privileged to be joining your school community.
Since my appointment, I have had the opportunity to visit the school on several occasions and to meet with Mr. Boatman, learners, staff and governors. I would like to say thank you to Mr. Boatman for his support and for his fantastic contribution to The Edith Borthwick School.
From my experience of being a teacher and deputy headteacher within special schools for 12 years, I know how vital working in partnerships with parents really is, in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. I strongly believe achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand to ensure each child’s excellent progress. I hope you will support our high expectations in all areas, especially in communication, behaviour and learning.
The Edith Borthwick School has managed much change over the past few years, including moving building and now new leadership. I am looking forward to working alongside you to continue to ensure your child gets the best educational experience possible and for the school to go from strength to strength.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and discuss the building of a successful partnership. You are most welcome to contact me by email or phone.
I would like to thank you for your continued commitment and support towards the learners and staff of this school.
