The Edith Borthwick School

Enabling everyone to reach and go beyond their potential

Home Page

We have made the difficult decision to close the school again tomorrow, Friday 2nd March, due to concerns over site safety and the conditions on the roads around the school.

Toby, Andy and Dave have been at school most of the day, and despite their best efforts to clear paths and the car park, they left it in a similar position with the snow continuing to fall and temperatures dropping. The side roads continue to be getting worse, and with freezing conditions continuing overnight and into tomorrow these roads are unlikely to thaw. The transport company have also confirmed that there would be several routes that would be unsafe to get to and were reluctant to travel in these conditions.

Closing the school is not a decision we make lightly, but keeping everyone safe is of utmost importance, and current Government website advice is to travel only when necessary. So therefore to ensure the safety of our pupils, parents and staff, we will not be opening the school.

Have a good weekend and we will see everyone on Monday

Best wishes,
